I don't re-read books very often, so when I do it's because I really appreciated it the first time. I recently re-read The Goal and loved it all over again.
Alex Rogo's manufacturing plant was failing, even though its efficiency numbers were great. With the help of a consultant, he realizes the metrics he's concentrating on improving were all wrong. Slowly, he begins to understand what numbers he should be focused on, and what was wrong with the old metrics.
The Goal is an excellent book on challenging the conventional, improving one's processes, and being a better business person. The lessons learned in the book don't just apply to manufacturing, but really any field. I highly recommend The Goal to everyone who can read. (That's you!)
