Station Eleven

The pandemic theme of my book selections continued with Station Eleven, a novel during which a flu pandemic takes out most of the world's population.

It always amazes me how evil such post-apocalyptic worlds are. Maybe optimistic people don't write books on this topic, or maybe such books don't sell. On the other hand, maybe they are indeed accurate portrayals of what the world would look like in such a scenario. Personally though, I think survivors would be quite neighbourly with each other, as the beneficiaries who have inherited the vast resources of the planet.

But when I see the US Firearm Checks data from March and April and I realize that I'm probably way off.

Anyway, it's an interesting story, and appropriate for the times we feel like we live in (even though things aren't nearly as bad as they could be; hopefully this pandemic gives us the political will to actually be ready should a more deadly one come into existence).

Read the book last month . scary scene for the future.. covid -19 seems like the little league compared to Station Eleven.. if we have a second wave in a few months , today's reality could look like a pleasant dream. worth the read !! MJ
