A Man Called Ove is an excellent novel about life. I hesitate to give any more info about it, because part of the enjoyment for me was not knowing what was coming next.
There are flashbacks, where we learn why people are the way they are. And there are changes people go through as life happens to them. I saw myself a lot in one of the characters. If you read the first few chapters, you'll probably have a very good idea of whether you'll enjoy the book. I recommend you give it a shot.
