The Difference Between God and Larry Ellison*

* God doesn't think he's Larry Ellison

The book's title makes it sound a lot more vitriolic than it really is. The Difference Between God and Larry Ellison appeared to me (purely as an outsider) to be a candid, two-sided description of the guy who started and runs Oracle.

This was my second Ellison book in as many months, and I definitely preferred this one to the last one, Softwar. Softwar felt more suck-uppy to Ellison whereas Difference didn't pull any punches. Difference also didn't waste a lot of time following Ellison around on yacht races and what not.

However, many elements of the books were the same. The same incidents kept coming up, causing me a lot of deja vu. As such, I think you only need to read one of these books to understand Oracle and Ellison. Make it this one.
