I'm not that into poker, but Maria Konnikova's The Biggest Bluff: How I Learned to Pay Attention, Master Myself, and Win has inspired me to enjoy this game again after a multi-year hiatus.
I almost put the book down in the first chapter. Why would I be interested in reading about poker games as this woman went from newbie to professional in one year's time? But I'm so glad I kept reading. The journey she logs was filled with wisdom that applies not just to poker but to investing and life, and I was glad to learn from it.
It was also illuminating to hear from a woman in a male-dominated field. The abuse women seem to receive in field after field is startling.
I recommend the book to anyone interested in poker and trying to master their biases.
