Outlive

Want to live a longer, healthier life? Peter Attia's book Outlive is all about how to do that.

Most of medicine today is about fixing problems once the symptoms have already appeared. But by then, it's usually too late to do anything meaningful about the problem, particularly when it comes to the main killers in advanced economies: vascular issues (heart disease, stroke), cancer, diabetes, and cognitive decline (e.g. Alzheimer's).

Attia's practice focuses on ways to identify much more leading indicators of these causes of death, giving patients decades of lead time to alter behaviours to make themselves healthier in the longer term. It's a philosophy to which I already ascribed, but the info Attia provided reinforced my belief in this method.

What I especially liked was the level of specificity Attia provides e.g. which exercises to focus on to increase chances of longevity, which blood markers to look for to determine metabolic health etc.

I highly recommend the book to everyone currently alive.
